How Calc3D calculates 3D print cost and price

The calculator organizes project costs in reviewable steps. Check each assumption, adjust for your operation, and compare production cost to suggested price.

1. Material

Material cost is spool price divided by 1,000, times grams consumed. For batches, total is divided by part count.

2. Machine and energy

Energy uses average power, print time, and kWh rate. Depreciation uses machine value divided by estimated useful life in hours.

3. Labor and extras

Setup, finishing, packaging, hardware, and other materials are separate so manual work does not disappear from the quote.

4. Failures and price

Failure rate reserves part of subtotal for losses. Then markup turns production cost into suggested price.

Does the methodology include taxes and marketplace fees?

The public calculator simulates without marketplace fees and taxes. In the app, you can add them when they apply.

Does the formula guarantee ideal price?

No. It organizes costs and assumptions. Demand, competition, urgency, finishing, and perceived value still need business judgment.

Why can the example change?
